This album uses feedback as the primary sound source, along with some acoustic noise. Unlike on Collapsing Orchestra, this time the material is submitted to various manipulations and effects. The output ranges from atmospheric to harsh, with a bit more of the latter.

Spork is available directly from us, and from the Osaka based NEUS-318 label.

  1. Angel Factory
An atmospheric construction of feedback and connection sounds. I was surprised by the experiments leading to the sounds used in "Angel Factory", as many do not sound like feedback at all. This piece actually gets louder and louder in the last minute or so up to the end, but seems to fade out due to the inability of most audio systems (and human hearing) to process very low frequency sounds.

  2. The Egg
Contains contrasting dark and shrill sounds built from feedback, metal shelving, an old manual typewriter, and loose cassette tape rubbed by hand across the play heads of a dismantled tape deck. The hatching of some great metalic bird. You can download this track from our mp3.com page.

  3. Rasputin
This half-hour piece was months in the making. The sources are: feedback, metal shelving, a chain, and loose cassette tape rubbed across the play heads. This includes outtakes from our live show of March 21, 1998 on Long Island, NY. This piece has both atmospheric and harsh sections.

  4. The Girl from Feedback Overdrive
A mostly harsh track put together from feedback and some female voice and screaming. I was trying to imagine what "feminine" noise would be. Not sure if this is it.

  5. Fleshy Bulbs
This is basically a harsh feedback improvisation on a little amp and a delay box played with patch cords. It was edited down, overdubbed with itself in sections, and subjected to some enhancement.

  6. Head Screws"
Another altered improv, but this time using microphones instead of patch cords to complete the feedback circuit.

  7. The Exterminator and the Centipedes"
More harsh noise, but with more structure than the improv pieces. Loosely based on the writings of William S. Burroughs, this is the battle of an exterminator hooked on the halucinogenic kick of his bug poisons, against his many-legged foes. This track is available on our mp3.com page.
